Safeguarding & Children's Data Statement
Last updated: 18 July 2026
This page covers what this statement is for: the specific, practical rules Level follows to minimise the amount of, and risk to, children's personal data. See also our Privacy Policy for the full picture of what's collected and your rights over it.
What Level does
1. First names only, by default
Only add a surname or initial if two players share the same first name and you need to tell them apart. Never enter anything more identifying than that.
2. No photographs
There is no feature in Level to upload a photograph of a player. Don't try to work around this — for example by putting a child's photo in the team crest field, or a link to one in a free-text field. If you spot a way this could happen, please report it as a bug immediately.
3. Minimal data by design
Level only asks for what the rotation algorithm needs: a name, goalkeeper suitability, preferred positions, a skill rating, and match stats. We don't ask for date of birth, home address, school, emergency contacts, or medical information — your club should keep that information in its own systems, not in Level.
4. Per-team access control
Each Coach's squad, players, and matches are isolated behind their own account. Coaches only ever see the teams they manage.
5. Deletion on request
A Coach — or a parent/guardian, via the Coach or directly — can ask for a player's record, or an entire team, to be permanently deleted. Contact [email protected].
6. Bug reports aren't a backdoor
If you use in-app bug reporting, never include a child's name or other identifying details in the description — treat these reports as visible outside the app.
What Coaches are responsible for
- Making sure you have the appropriate permission — in line with your club's or league's existing safeguarding and parental consent arrangements — before adding a child's name and stats to Level.
- Never uploading or attempting to store photographs, videos, addresses, medical details, or anything beyond a first name (and a surname/initial only where needed) and football-related stats.
- Removing a player's record — or asking us to — once they leave your team, or if you stop coaching.
Contact
For a data protection or safeguarding-of-data question about Level itself — for example, requesting deletion, or reporting a way a photo or extra personal data could end up in the app — email [email protected]. For a concern about a specific child's welfare, use the club/FA/NSPCC/police channels at the top of this page instead.
